What is a domain name and how do I get one?

A domain name is the address that people will type in to find your web site, such as www.yourcompany.com. Generally you want the shortest version of your business name that is available. Other companies and individuals have already registered most common names, so you may need to be creative if your name is taken.

What is the regulations to apply for domain names under MY?

Any organizations requesting domain registration must have a local presence. Organizations registered with the Registry of Companies (ROC) or Registry of Business (ROB) in Malaysia may apply for a domain under COM.MY or NET.MY

Do I have to get a new Web address or can I use one that I already have?

You can use an existing Web address or request a new one.

I can't find a Web address that works for my Web site; lots of the names I've tried are taken. I don't have a Web address to transfer either. What should I do?

Your Web site must have a Web address in order to be found on the Internet. And you have to have a Web address to subscribe to our monthly plans. Many hosting providers offer "third level domain names" (e.g. www.yourcompany.abc.com). If you have dial up access to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) you may already have space for a Web site with a third level domain name. Check with your existing provider for details.
